Medal of Honor

Supplies Needed:

Colored construction paper (at least 5 different colors)
Colored markers or crayons
A compass or protractor
One-Hole Punch
Yarn or Ribbon

Step-by-Step Instructions

First, use your compass to cut 5 circles out of your construction paper, one circle from each color. The circles should measure 3 to 5 inches in diameter (across - from one side to another). If you don't have a compass or a protracter, you can still make circles by tracing the bottom of a coffee mug or jar (or any other object that has a round bottom). If you don't like circles, you can make triangles, squares, etc, instead.

After you get your circles (or whatever shape you used) cut out, use your colored markers to write out the Medal of Honor coupons (be careful to leave a little space at the top of each coupon for the hole you will punch out later). Coupons should be good things that your mom or dad would like. For example, your coupons could say "Good for one Hug!", "Good for reading a story to Dad", "Good for cleaning up my room", or "Good for taking out the trash". Be creative when you are thinking up coupon ideas! After you have written each coupon, punch a hole at the top of each one (above your writing). Thread one piece of yarn or ribbon through the coupons and and tie it in a knot. Make sure that the yarn (or ribbon) is long enough to make a loop big enough to fit around a doorknob. Hang the Medal of Honor on a doorknob or on a knob in the kitchen. Your parents will be very surprised when they find it! :)

The Medal of Honor is a great idea for Mother's Day or Father's Day. Remember, the coupons have no expiration date so your parents can use them whenever they want. Whenever your parents use the coupons, act them out with a smile and as soon as possible.
