Box Airplane

Supplies Needed:

Metallic Spray Paint
Aluminum Foil
Saran Wrap
Long paper fastener
Duct Tape
Utility Knife (Adult Use Only)

Step-by-Step Instructions

This project requires the supervision and cooperation of an adult!

First, find a box that is big enough to cover half your body. Cutting is a Parent Job - Cut off the bottom flaps of the box with a utility knife (or scissors). Cut out rectangular wing flaps on two sides of the box. The flaps should be positioned directly across from each other and they should be slightly longer than your arm. Next, cut out a rectangle at the center of the top of the box. The rectangle should be big enough for your head to fit through. Don't make it too roomy or the box will keep slipping off of your shoulders. Next, paint the entire box. Allow it a few hours to dry. In the meanwhile, make propellers by cutting two strips out of cardboard and wrapping them in aluminum foil. Later, attach the propellers to the front of the "airplane" with a long paper fastener. Leave just enough slack in the faster to allow the propellers to turn. Finally, make a windsheild by cutting a frame out of cardboard the same width as the box. Tape a piece of plactic wrap inside the frame to make it look like glass. Attach the frame to the box with duct tape.
